The Guestbook

Due to the advent of "web-crawlers" that make automatic entries into guestbooks (similar to the spam you get in your email Inbox) the Guestbook has been disabled.  The legitimate, and much appreciated, entries that have been made over the years are below. All postings are welcomed and we would love to hear from you - simply email Colin and it will be added.

Our thanks for taking the time to say Hello!

Website update

I hope you like some of the changes I've made to the website and hope to continue making additional changes that will make the site easier to use.  I took a fair amount of information off the Homepage and relocated that information to the Photos and Links navigation buttons on the lefthand side of the Homepage, which are also new.  I won't tell you how many hours I spent trying to get them to function properly, but I think they're a nice change and new buttons are now much easier to add, as needed.

If you have messages you would like posted here, simply email Colin.

John Pitcairn

First time visitor

First time visitor to this site so leaving a wee note in passing, though I think my parents are included in the directory. Am a Fife Pitcairn, born and raised in Dunfermline, where wind and freezing rain have combined and relocated me to the warmer climes of Houston, Texas for the past 3yrs. Nice to see so many Pitcairns throughout the world, though average Texan seems to have a nightmare trying to spell or pronounce it.
Keep up the good work...John

Time is the Enemy!

Yes indeed it is and exploring my ancestry is something I should have made time for long before now!
Perhaps I can change that now and what better time than to meet some fellow Pitcairns in Edinburgh this coming week.

Pitcairn 2004

Oh Boy I am getting real excited. To be back in Scotland after being there in 2000. The long trek from New Zealand starts on 1 August.
An added attraction for me this time will be that I get to stay and sleep in the house that was used by my ancestors 4 generations ago. What a thrill to relive being part of the Kirkintilloch Branch of the Pitcairn Family.
And to meet every one again will be a thrill. At least this time I will have my kilt, which, in 2000 had been sent to Canada one day before we arrived in Scotland. Anyway that disappointment is behind me; the important thing is that I can fit my kilt hehehehehe. Only just....
32 days to go and counting down

Suggestions of Scottish Songs to play on the Violin

Hello fellow Pitcairns,
I am so excited to meet all of you, and visit Scotland for the first time. If anyone has some favorite Scottish tunes that could be played on the violin, please email or call me, I would be happy to learn them for the banquet.

Robert John Pitcairn and Fay Pitcairn

Pitcairn2004

Real excitement. A decision has been made to attend Pitcairn 2004. This is subdued some what by the news that Fay most likely will not be coming. However it was Robert's mothers wish that he attend this reunion as she is now unable to do so because of her death just after Pitcairn 2002.

Robert has already been in touch with John Pitcairn of Kirkintilloch who tells him that there is another Pitcairn of the Kirkintilloch Branch been found and he will be in Scotland in August 2004. Robert who is also from the Kirkintilloch branch, found out at Pitcairn 2000 that he and John shared the same Great Great Great grandfathers. So as you can see great excitement all round. Any way love to have some one else let us know how they are.

Best Wishes to all and a very Merry and Joyous Xmas

Martin Pitcairn

I am sorry to write and tell you that Martin Pitcairn of Bournemouth Rd, Barlanark, Glasgow has now passed on. This happened last year and was met with great sadness by all the family. He was very distraught after the death of his father and never really recovered. All the family have and will continue to miss him very much.

Pitcairn 2002

I will be attending Pitcairn 2002 although I won’t have my wife Fay with me as she will be in Australia at the same time. I am looking forward so much to meeting everyone again and also new family who were not able to attend Pitcairn 2000. I arrive in Philadelphia on 11 July at a terrible early hour on that morning. So excited about the trip and having to just lose an inch or two to ensure that my kilt fits.
Greetings to you all and I will see you all on 12th and 13th. What is American Haggis like? Mmmmmmmm.

Colin, the website is changing each time I visit and you are doing a great job. Very many thanks for including so much about my book, "The Edwardian Eye of Andrew Pitcairn-Knowles" - you are doing your best to make him a household name! Pitcairn2002 sounds tempting and I am looking forward to more details on the website. All good wishes. Richard.

ROBERT JOHN PITCAIRN

Our attendance at the Reunion

Have just arrived home in New Zealand with my wife Fay from our participation in PITCAIRN 2000 and a subsequent tour of Great Britain Scotland & Ireland. The trip has been a marvelous experience and as I said in my speech at the reunion the coming together of the Pitcairns on 13/17 July 2000 just blew Fay & I away. To those who were aware that my kilt ended up in Canada instead of on me at the reunion will no doubt be pleased to know that it is nearly here. We plan a big dress up when it does arrive and the resultant pictures will be posted on PITCAIRN 2000 or should that now be PITCAIRN 2004 Colin?

Thank you everybody for making our visit to the reunion such a memorable event.
