If you are planning a trip to Scotland...
be sure to take Ian Pitcairn's "Pitcairn Heritage Trail" Guide Notes with you!
We've held five Pitcairn Clan Gatherings starting with Pitcairn2000 in Edinburgh. Pitcairn2002 was held in Bryn Athyn, PA; Pitcairn2004 in Edinburgh, Pitcairn2006 at Grandfather Mountain, NC; and Pitcairn2009 in Glasgow and The Ayrshire Burns Country.
While we all love to travel, ultimately the reason we decided to hold these events was for those attending to "make some
new friends, strengthen family ties, learn more about our
heritage, and create some wonderful memories to last a lifetime."
An interesting note: 2014 will find the Commonwealth Games being hosted in Glasgow, and is also the 700th Anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, 1314.
From everything I've seen and heard, we've far surpassed our initial expectations. So now it's time to start thinking about 2014. Where do we want to meet? Edinburgh? New Zealand? Nova Scotia? Somewhere in the US?
YOU made these Gatherings happen and we can't thank you enough! But we need to hear from you, so please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know your thoughts.
